Sometimes

by Doris Muramatsu

There's a crack in my window where the rain peeks in
But I sit and stare indifferently
There's a hole in my chest that refuses to mend
You're away where you thought you'd do best

It's been a long time since the day we agreed to disagree
But sometimes, I'm so lonely I could cry

Now a distant occupation is harmless enough
But the ties of commonality can blind me with rage
And I miss you most when the day is not day
When the last car pulls into its space

How much longer can a photograph sustain the life we supposedly live?
'Cause sometimes I'm so lonely i could cry

It seems that lately we've been fussing over things so lame
My body's wasted from all the things I can't explain

There's a crack in my window where the rain peeks in
But I sit and stare indifferently
